Football has captured the minds of millions around the world. For years, young kids have taken to the streets to play the beautiful game. Some kids develop an acute understanding of the game; these are the ones that make it to the professional level. Here they make a living off of playing football at the highest level. However, there is quite a distance between a kid playing in the streets to a pro playing in a stadium.
So, what differentiates those who play it only in the streets from those who play in front of thousands of fans? Well, the best example to preach when talking about football talent is two of the game’s greatest players. Both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated the world of football for almost two decades. However, there is a stark difference between the two. Whilst analysts deem Messi to be naturally skilled, Ronaldo is praised for his work ethic. Meaning one could be blessed with talent, or work hard to hone their craft.
This article explores the latter in detail.
Like in every discipline in life, practice makes perfect. This applies to soccer players and their ambitions too. Although kids play with whatever round object they can find, it doesn’t cut it at a slightly higher level. Here, a training soccer ball is required to help prepare future superstars. The weight and structure of these balls help young ones to familiarize themselves with the basics.
As an athlete grows in competence, the football ball training changes. It begins with simple drills to acquaint young ones with the basics. However, as they progress these drills become tougher and more grueling. Pushing footballers to hone their craft to perfection. Each player shows a different aptitude for these sessions. That’s why the question, ”How long does it take to get good at football?” irks many coaches. There’s no one right answer. Each player blooms at different points in their journey.
At the end of the day, talent can only take you so far. If a footballer isn’t willing to put in an effort themselves, they won’t succeed professionally. The history of soccer is filled with players who underachieved in their careers due to a lack of commitment. That’s why to be the next Messi or Ronaldo, football ball training is essential
